The International 2016
The International has been dubbed as the biggest event in the eSports industry. Since its announcement in 2011, this event has broken records on online views, arena attendance, and prize pool.
The International 2016 (TI6) is the sixth edition of The International. It is honed as the most prestigious tournament in DOTA 2 and the most luxurious as well. In fact, the TI 6, with an enormous prize pool of $20,770,460, is considered as the highest paying eSports tournament.The best 16 teams from across the globe battle their way to the top of the DOTA world. This year’s edition was won by the Chinese powerhouse, Wings Gaming. The team gave out exemplary performances over the tournament proper and earned the bragging rights of becoming the best in the world along with a cash prize of $9,139,002.
League of Legends 2016 World Championship
The LoL vs DOTA has always been a trend in eSports. While DOTA 2 clearly beats LoL in terms of its overall prize pools, views and crowdfunding in its events, LoL can boast that it has more players worldwide.
However, League of Legends is clearly making moves into holding more prestigious tournaments. Last September, the most prestigious event of all time in League of Legends was introduced – The League of Legends 2016 World Championship. This established LoL as a big contender in the big leagues of eSports.It is considered as the fourth highest eSports event in terms of prize pool with $5,070,000.00 to be distributed among 16 best LoL teams.

It is considered as the pinnacle of eSports competitive gaming as it is the first step towards a bright future of a non-gamer population.2016 has really been a big year for eSports and although the year is drawing to a close, a lot more events are still lined up. Gamers can look forward to Street Fighter V by Capcom and the Boston Major DOTA 2 by Valve that would be both held this December among others.
